Investigating contextual drivers of drug use across rural and smaller urban Canada: built environments, policies and strategies, and public health interventions
Led by Dr. Geoff Bardwell
Drug Lab is based out of the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo and is led by Dr. Geoff Bardwell. Drug Lab specializes in research and policy related to drug use, with a focus on smaller urban, rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. We use qualitative and mixed methods approaches to investigate contextual drivers (e.g., built environments, policies, social norms) on both drug use and related strategies and interventions. Drug Lab also works with a variety of community partners, including people with lived/living experience of drug use, to ensure our research objectives and priorities align with communities.
